Workers of Pakistan Railways on Wednesday observed sit-in on railways track at Cantonment Station against the delay in disbursement of salaries shouted slogans against the railways' management. The protestors blocked movement of trains which caused delay in departure of Awami Express to Karachi at least for two hours. The protestors, mainly the technical employees and class-4, were led by leaders of different labourers' unions including Abu Saeed Jaffari, Ashfaq Bacha and others.

Criticising the railways management, the speakers said that it is not for the first time that the payment of salaries has been delayed but it has become routine and creating problems for the poor workers. "Despite announcement by the Prime Minister to pay the salaries on time the concerned officials are least bothered to ensure pay disbursement on due date," they alleged and added that in past they got salaries till mid of every month but the new trend has added to miseries of the low salaried class.
